Swimming Lessons Grades 1 to 4
Fall 2016 Swim Lessons
Grade 1 to 4 students will be participating in Strathcona’s Swimming & Water Safety programs from October to December at the Emerald Hills Leisure Centre. Participation in swimming lessons provide students with the opportunity to meet a variety of learning outcomes in the physical education curriculum, such as:
- Improving upon functional level of fitness through participation
- Experiencing and appreciating the health benefits that result from physical activity.
- Acquiring and improving upon skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate movement activities in alternative environments
- Interacting positively with others
- Assuming responsibility to lead an active way of life
The Swimming Schedule is as follows:
Tuesday Grade 1 Oct. 11 – Dec. 13 9 Weeks 1:00 – 1:45 p.m.
Tuesday Grade 3 Oct. 11 – Dec. 13 9 Weeks 1:45 – 2:30 p.m.
No lesson – Nov.15
Thursday Grade 2 Oct. 13 – Dec. 15 9 Weeks 1:00 – 1:45 p.m.
Thursday Grade 4 Oct. 13 – Dec. 15 9 Weeks 1:45 – 2:30 p.m.
No lesson – Nov.17
Please fill out the Swimming Form and have it returned to the school by Monday, September 19th. There will be a link to swim lesson levels on this week’s SMORE. If you are unsure of your child’s swimming level simply write “Don’t know” on the form.
The cost for swimming including busing is $63.55. This fee has been applied to your child’s account in PowerSchool. Payment can be made by cheque to the school or by accessing the ACORN Online Payment System. To pay online using your VISA, VISA Debit, Master Card or Interact Online Debit, go to the Madonna School website at madonna.eics.ab.ca and click on PowerSchool located under “QuickLinks” on the left hand side. Sign in using your PowerSchool username and password. Click on student fees located on the left hand side and follow the instructions provided. This fee is due by Friday September 30th.
How to Complete Student Forms in the Parent Portal click on the link to complete the Annual Field Trip Agreement in time for swimming lessons.
We are in need of male supervisors to help supervise the boys in the change room at the Emerald HIlls Leisure Center.If you can help, even just for one lesson, and the office has a completed copy of your Criminal Record Check and Record Intervention Check, please call the school at 780-467-7972.
